1. Tour Itinerary
Our tour guide will meet you in your
hotel lobby at 08:30 in the morning.
Visit Sera Monastery and Norbulingka. After lunch,
go to Tibet Museum. Transfer back to your hotel.
Monastery: Founded in 1419, it is
one of three famous monasteries in Tibet.
As a complex of structures with the
Great Assembly Hall and three colleges,
Sera is the representative monastery
of the Gelugpa of the Tibetan Buddhism,
sometime in the history it housed about
6000 monks from all over Tibet.
Norbulingka: The traditional summer
residence of the successive Dalai Lamas
from the 1780s until the late 1950s.
Norbulingka means "treasure park" in
the Tibetan, it measures about 430,000
square yards, with 374 rooms inside.
As a unique representation of Tibetan
palace architecture, Norbulingka is
recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage
Site in 2001.
Museum: Covering an area of 54,000
square meters, it is the first modern
museum in Tibet with a rich collection
of cultural relics including Buddha
statues, Tibetan scriptures, jade seals,
gold albums, tangkas and folk arts.
