Visit Tiananmen
Square, the Forbidden City (the
Imperial Palace) and the Summer
Palace. Enjoy the Beijing Duck
Dinner and the Peking Opera in
the evening.
Tiananmen
Square: Tian'anmen
Square, the largest square in
the world, encompasses 440,000
square metres, about the size
of 60 soccer fields, 880 metres
from north to south and 500 metres
from east to west, big enough
to hold half a million people.
Forbidden
City: The
Forbidden City China is a symbol
of oriental culture, Established
on the basis of the Imperial PaLace
of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
One cannot be counted as having
visited China if he or she has
never visited the Forbidden City
of China.
Summer
Palace: The
Summer Palace is a monument to
classical Chinese architecture,
in terms of both garden design
and construction. Incorporating
scenes from surrounding landscapes,
it radiates not only the grandeur
of an imperial garden but also
the beauty of nature shown by
Chinese architectural style.
Beijing
Duck Dinner: Beijing
Roasted duck is renowned as the
most delicious food of Beijing.
Peking
Opera: Beijing
Opera is deemed the national opera
of China. The accompanying music,
singing and costumes are full
of Chinese cultural facts.

Beijing

Take an excursion
to the Great Wall and the Ming
Tombs. See the appearance of the
Bird's Nest (Olympic National
Stadium) at a distance.
Great
Wall Of China: One
of the seven wonders in the world
and the symble of China. The Great
Wall extends to more than 5,000
kilometers.
Ming
Tombs: Some
50 kilometers northwest of the
downtown Beijing, the Ming Tombs
are generally combined with a
visit to the Great Wall. Otherwise
known as the "13 Tombs", this
is the burial site of 13 out of
17 emperors of the Ming Dynasty.

Beijing
- Urumqi (Breakfast
+ Lunch + Dinner)
Tour to the Temple
of Heaven. Take a flight to Urumqi
and transfer to the hotel.
Temple
of Heaven: Situadet
in the South-Eastern part of Beijing,
the Temple of Heaven is the largest
still existing sacrificial temple
in China. It was used as the site
for imperial sacrifices during
the Ming and Qing dynasties. It
was here that the emperor conducted
the elaborate and most exalted
sacrifices addressed to "the Supreme
Ruler of the Universe" to ask
for the heavens blessings and
good harvest. |

Urumqi
- Turpan (Breakfast
+ Lunch)
Drive to Turpan.
Visit the Jiaohe Ruins, the Karez
Well and the Sugong Pagoda.
Jiaohe
Ruins: Jiaohe meaning the
confluence of two rivers once
stood an ancient city since the
Han dynasty, nearly two thousand
years ago. It ended during Ming
dynasty about 500 years ago. It
started out as a garrison, but
was built up by during the Reign
of Gaochang into a major city
in the Turfan region from 499-640
A.D.
Karez
Well: The Karez is an underground
irrigation system that was installed
2,000 years ago. The karez is
made up of three parts, ditch,
underground channel and dam.
Sugong
Pagoda: The Sugong Pagoda
is known as the Turpan Pagoda
among local residents. A stone
tablet at its entrance cites the
reason for the pagoda's construction
in Wei and Han characters. The
structure was built in 1181 of
the Hui calendar (1779) by Su
Laiman II, the ruler of the Turpan
Prefecture, to honor his father.

Turpan
- Dunhuang (Breakfast
+ Lunch + Dinner)
Visit the Gaochang Ruins, the
Baizikeli Thousand Buddha Cave
and the Flaming Hill. Take overnight
soft berth train to Dunhuang.
Gaochang
Ruins: The Uigur city-state
that ruled the area from around
the 9th century to the 13th. In
its heyday, Gaochang was a great
Uigur city built on the business
and trade that came through its
gates. The religious beliefs of
many peoples entered China through
this area, first Buddhism and
later Islam.
Bizaklik
Thousand Buddha Caves: There
are 77 numbered grottoes, about
40 of which still have murals
in them. The group of grottoes
in Bizaklik, with a total of 1,200
square meters of murals, has the
most grottoes, most diversified
architectural styles and the richest
mural content in the Turpan area.
Flaming
Hill: Located at the northern
edge of the Turpan Basin, Flaming
Hill is about 10 kilometers east
of downtown Turpan, stretching
up to 100 kilometers from east
to west and about 10 kilometers
from south to north. With an average
temperature of 30 degrees, it
is known as the hottest place
on earth and the highest temperature
can even reach 47.8 degrees. |

Dunhuang
(Lunch)
Breakfast is on your side on the
train. Our guide will meet you
at the railway station and transfer
to the hotel in Dunhuang. Visit
the Mogao Grottoes and the Dunhuang
Museum.
Mogao
Grottoes: This honeycomb of
caves was constructed over a millennium,
from the 4th to the 14th centuries,
and represents the height of Buddhist
art and the world's richest treasure
house of Buddhist sutras, murals
and sculptures. During its heyday,
the cave complex had thousands
of caves, and today, a total of
492 grottoes, 45,000 square-metres
of murals, 2,400 painted statues
and over 250 residential caves
remains. |

Dunhuang
- Xian (Breakfast

Take flight to Xian and transfer
to the hotel. Visit the Ancient
City Wall.
Ancient
City Wall: The
wall is 15 meters wide and 11.9
kilometers in perimeter, it is
the best preserved, oldest and
largest ancient city defence system
in China. |

Xi'an

Visit the Terra
Cotta Warriors Museum, the Forest
of Stone Steles Museum and the
Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Enjoy Tang
Dynasty Show this evening.
Terra
Cotta Warriors Museum: The
most significant archeological
excavations of the 20th century.
It is a sight not to be missed
by any visitor to China.
Forest
of Stone Steles Museum: The
Stele Forest stores voluminous
artworks which possess not only
eximious value of handwriting
and art, but also rich cultural
connotation. The Stele Forest
began to be built in 1087.
Big
Wild Goose Pagoda: The
Pagoda was first built in 652
in the Tang Dynasty. Xuanzang,
a prominent Buddhist scholar of
the time, planned to have ahuge
stone pagoda built to house the
Sanskrit Buddhist scriptures he
had brought back from India.
Tang
Dynasty Show: A
performance of Chang'an music
and dances that was originated
in the Tang dynasty of Chinese
history over a thousand years
ago. |

Xi'an
- Shanghai (Breakfast

Visit the Shaanxi
Provincial History Museum and
the Great Mosque. Transfer to
the airport for flight to
Shanghai.
Shaanxi
Provincial History Museum:
Covers an area
of 70,000 square meters, the museum
houses a large collection of 113,000
historic and cultural artefacts
unearthed in Shaanxi, being an
absolute must for every visitor
to the city.
Great
Mosque: Built
in 742 A.D., the mosque was restored
in each of the Yuan (1271 - 1368),
Ming and Qing Dynasties. The distribution
of pavilions, halls, towers and
platforms in the mosque is compact
and exquisite, blending the traditional
architectural styles of Islam
and Han. |

Shanghai
(Breakfast

Visit the Shanghai
Museum, the Yu Yuan Garden, Shanghai
Old Street and former French Concession.
Have a stroll over the Bund. Enjoy
the Portman Acrobatic Show in
the evening.
Shanghai
Museum: The
museum boasts over 120,000 pieces
of collection, including bronze,
ceramics, paintings, calligraphy,
sculpture, ancient Chinese coins,
jade furniture, and western art.
Yu
Yuan Garden: A
traditional Chinese park complete
with beautiful pavilions, miniature
lakes, bridges and rock formations.
Former
French Concession: The
French Concession is the area
of Shanghai once designated for
the French. Today, the area's
central Huaihai Rd is a busy shopping
street, but the tree-lined avenues
and their many Tudor mansions
still retain an air of the "Paris
of the East".
The
Bund: With
a length of 1 km, the bund is
dotted with various grandiose
solid buildings of western style
dating back to the early this
century in its west. Due to these
imposing buildings, the bund is
also reputed as "an international
exhibition of architecture".
