1. Tour Itinerary
Arrive at Shanghai
airport or railway station. Our English-speaking
tour guide will meet and welcome you
at the arrival hall, and then you will
be transferred to your hotel for checking
in. Remaining day is free at your own
Visit the Shanghai
Museum, the Yuyuan Garden, City God
Temple in Shanghai Old Street and former
French Concession. Have a stroll over
the Bund. Optional program in the evening:
the Portman Acrobatic Show or Huangpu
Museum: The museum
is a treasure house of Chinese cultural
essence with a rich collection of 120,000
valuable antique items. Shanghai Museum
is especially famous for its treasures
of bronzes (bells, knives, chariot ornaments),
ancient coins, ceramics, Chinese calligraphy
and traditional paintings.
Garden: As the
most famous classical garden in Shanghai,
Yuyuan is located to the northeast of
the old town, not far from The Bund.
It was built from 1559 to 1577 during
the Ming Dynasty. Each pavilion, hall,
stone and stream in the garden is expressing
the quintessence of South China landscape
design from Ming and Qing Dynasty.
French Concession: It
is once designated for the French from
1849 to 1946, consisting of today's
Luwan and Xuhui Districts. Interesting
architecture built with French and Belgian
venture investments and showing mixed
Chinese-European styles. Today, the
area is characterized by quiet, tree-lined
avenues, French-style villas, interesting
boutiques, lively bars and quaint cafes
that are not typical of China.
Bund: As the architectural
symbol of Shanghai, the Bund is on the
west bank of Huangpu River and winds
one kilometer. The name "the Bund" is
derived from an Anglo-Indian term meaning
literally "muddy embankment". To the
west of the Bund, there are 52 magnificent
buildings standing in different styles:
Rome, Baroque, Gothic, Renaissance,
Classic and the combination of Eastern
and Western style, most of them were
erected before 1937.
- Suzhou - Shanghai (Breakfast
Our guide pick you
up from your hotel at about 08:00am,
and help you to take high speed train
from Shanghai to Suzhou which takes
30 minutes. Visit the Zhuozhengyuan
Garden (Humble Administrators Garden)
and Liuyuan Garden (Lingering Garden).
After lunch, take a rickshaw and ride
through the streets of Suzhou, see local
people's daily life, folk handicrafts
and the ancient buildings. Be transferred
to Suzhou railway station to board on
the train back to Shanghai.
Garden: As the
largest garden in Suzhou, it is the
most representative of Chinese classical
gardens in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
The garden covers 4 hectares, its scenery
is focused on a central pond with pavilions,
chambers, terraces, and towers located
by the water or on hillocks in a natural
composition. It was listed as a World
Cultural Heritage site in 1997.
Garden: The garden
covers an area of 23,310 square meters;
it is celebrated for its artistic way
of dealing with the spaces between various
kinds of architectural form. Buildings
make up one third of the total area
of the garden, the hall of which being
the most remarkable in Suzhou. In 1997,
the garden was recorded by UNESCO as
a World Heritage Site.
Visit World Financial
Center, then explore Tianzifang Street.
Transfer to the airport for your departure,
end of service.
Center: Having 101 floors
with a height of 492 meters, it is the
second tallest skyscraper in mainland
China. It was completed in 2008, the
sightseeing hall was opened to public
on August 30. At the 94th to 100th floors,
is a visitors' square and observatory.
Street: The area used to
be a group of shikumen buildings - stone
frame houses, a kind of typical residentail
allyes. It has developed from a renovated
residential area in the former French
Concession area of Shanghai. Now it
houses bars, cafes, crafts shops, design
studios, galleries and boutiques.
