Visit Tiananmen
Square, the Forbidden City (the
Imperial Palace) and the Summer
Palace. Enjoy the Beijing Duck
Dinner and the Peking Opera in
the evening.
Tiananmen
Square: Tian'anmen
Square, the largest square in
the world, encompasses 440,000
square metres, about the size
of 60 soccer fields, 880 metres
from north to south and 500 metres
from east to west, big enough
to hold half a million people.
Forbidden
City: The
Forbidden City China is a symbol
of oriental culture, Established
on the basis of the Imperial PaLace
of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
One cannot be counted as having
visited China if he or she has
never visited the Forbidden City
of China.
Summer
Palace: The
Summer Palace is a monument to
classical Chinese architecture,
in terms of both garden design
and construction. Incorporating
scenes from surrounding landscapes,
it radiates not only the grandeur
of an imperial garden but also
the beauty of nature shown by

Take an excursion
to the Mutianyu Great Wall and
the Ming Tombs. See the appearance
of the Bird's Nest (Olympic National
Stadium) at a distance.
Mutianyu
Great Wall: Mutianyu serves
as the northern barrier defending
the capital and the imperial tombs.
With vegetation, green pines and
cypresses covering 90 per cent
of the area, the sceneries here
are beautiful all the year round.
Ming
Tombs: Some
50 kilometers northwest of the
downtown Beijing, the Ming Tombs
are generally combined with a
visit to the Great Wall. Otherwise
known as the "13 Tombs", this
is the burial site of 13 out of
17 emperors of the Ming Dynasty.

Tour to the Fragrant
Hills Park, the White Cloud Taoist
Temple, Yonghegong Lama Temple
and Confucius Temple. Take a Hutong
tour at Shichahai in the evening.
Fragrant
Hills Park: The
park is situated in the east part
of the western hills, In 1186,
in the Jin Dynasty, Fragrant Hills
Park Temple was built and terraces,
pavilions and pagodas were added
by the subsequent dynasties. The
area was later converted into
a park and was named the Park
of Tranquility and Pleasure.
White
Cloud Taoist Temple: In
the 8th century, the Tian Chang
Temple was built in Beijing to
house a statue of Lao Tzu. Although
it burned down in 1202, the statue
was saved . In 1224, Genghis Khan
ordered the reconstruction of
the temple. It came to be known
as the White Cloud Temple. Today
it is one of China's oldest and
largest Taoist temples, housing
the office of Taoist Association
of China.
Yonghegong
Lama Temple: The
Yonghegong Lama Temple, located
in the northeast corner of downtown
Beijing was originally used as
official residence for court eunuchs
of the Ming dynasty and then used
for the royal court of Prince
Yongzheng of the Qing dynasty.
In the 3rd year of Yongzheng's
rein (1725), it was elevated to
imperial palace for short stays
away from the capital with the
name changed to Yonghe Palace
of Peace and Harmony.
Confucius
Temple: The
Temple of Confucius in Beijing
was initially built in 1302 and
additions were made during the
Ming and Qing dynasties. It covers
a total area of 22,000 square
meters (5.4 acres). It is the
second largest temple constructed
for Confucius, ranking second
only the Temple of Confucius in
QuFu, ShanDong Province, the hometown
of Confucius.
Shichahai:
Shichahai is
Beijing's most popular hutong
district, composed of the homes
of Qing Dynasty merchants and
aristocrats.The area is made up
of three man-made lakes, Qianhai
(Front Sea), Houhai (Back Lake),
and Xihai (West Sea Lake).

Tanzhe Temple and Temple of Heaven.
Tanzhe
Temple: A
Buddhist temple built on a hillside
and consists of various pavilions,
prayer halls, courtyards and a
group of pagodas dating from the
Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.
At one time, it was one of the
most important temples in the
nation.
Temple
of Heaven: Situadet
in the South-Eastern part of Beijing,
the Temple of Heaven is the largest
still existing sacrificial temple
in China. It was used as the site
for imperial sacrifices during
the Ming and Qing dynasties. It
was here that the emperor conducted
the elaborate and most exalted
sacrifices addressed to "the Supreme
Ruler of the Universe" to ask
for the heavens blessings and
good harvest. |

Visit Beihai
Park and see pandas in Beijing
Zoo. Transfer to the airport for
your departure, end of service.
Beihai
Park: A famous beautiful Park
which used to be the former palace
of the emperors in successive
dynasties, called the Winter Palace
by Westerners.
Beijing
Zoo: The Beijing Zoo was built
in 1906 and opened to the public
in 1908 with an area of about
10 hectares and a few humble pavilions
to house the animals. At that
time only several dozens of species
were shown. such as lions, tigers,
leopards and monkeys. Now the
Beijing Zoo covers an area of
about 50 hectares. The animal
houses and enclosures, with a
total floor space of 40,000 square
metres, include those for pandas,
elephants, brown and polar bears,
tigers, hippopotami, rhinoceros,
antelopes, giraffes and reptiles.
More than 6,000 animals of over
500 species are on show. Among
them are giant pandas, golden
monkeys, addaxes, tigers from
Northeast China, elks, yaks, precious
birds and gold fish. |
