Take an excursion to the Badaling Great
Wall and the Ming Tombs.
Badaling
Great Wall: One of the seven wonders in the world and the symble of China. The Great Wall extends to more than 5,000 kilometers.
Ming
Tombs: Located 60 Kilometers north of Beijing, Ming Tombs consist of mausoleums of 13 Ming emperors.

Visit the Summer
Palace this morning. After lunch, transfer
to the airport for flight to Hohhot.
Summer
Palace: The largest imperial garden of Ming and Qing dynasty. The whole Summer Palace covers an area of over 290 hectares including more than 3,000 buildings, such as halls, pavilions, towers, etc.

- Gegentala Grassland (BL)
Drive to the
Gegentala Grassland.
Gegentala means "a place for spending
summer" in Mongolian, enjoy the
beautiful scenery of the grassland.
Visit the herdsmen's tent and enjoy
the Singing and Dances of Mongolian
people.
Stay tonight in the tent of Mongolian
people. |

Grassland - Hohhot

Drive back to Hohhot in the morning.
Visit the Tomb of Wang Zhaojun, the
Five Pagoda Temple and the Dazhao Temple.
Tomb
of Wang Zhaojun:
Wang Zhaojun was a maid of honor in
an imperial palace of the Han Dynasty.
In 33 B.C. Huhanxie Chanyu, chief of
the Xiongnus, proposed ties of amity
with the Han court through marriage.
When Zhaojun married Huhanxie, she brought
with her the rich culture of the Central
China Plain to the Xiongnu people in
the north.
Five
Pagoda Temple:
The Pagoda is 16.5 meters high and looks
like a Buddha's Warrior Attendant's
seat, with a base under it and five
exquisite pagodas on the base. As more
than 1560 relief sculptures of Buddhas
are engraved on the five pagodas, the
temple enjoys the reputation of being
"a 10000-Buddha Tower".
Dazhao
Temple: Built in
1580 and expanded in the early years
of the Qing Dynasty, the temple consists
of a number of halls and a nine-room
building; it contains many precious
relics, including silver Buddhist statues
and lions cast in iron. |

Take soft seat train to Datong.
Visit the Huayan Monasteryand the Nine
Dragon Screen.
Huayan Monastery:
The Monastery is located in the southwestern
part of Datong. These splendid ancient
buildings were constructed of wood during
the Liao Dynast more than nine hundred
years ago.
Nine Dragon Screen:
This glazed-brick structure has nine
dragons sculptured in relief in five
colors, the screen is 45.5 meters long,
8 meters high, and 2 meters thick. It
was built more than six hundred years
ago. |

Datong
- Beijing (BL)
Visit the Yungang Grottoes and Shanhua
Monastery. Take the overnight soft berth
train to Beijing.
Yungang Grottoes:
China's largest grottoes and world-famous
treasure-house of arts and culture with
53 caves, with 51,000 carved statues
and bas-reliefs.
Shanhua Monastery:
First built in A.D. 713-741 during the
Tang Dynasty. The entire monastery is
a well-proportioned, well-preserved
complex. It contains more than thirty
Buddhist statues sculptured during the
Liao and Kin dynasties, the most noteworthy
being covered in gold leaf.

Beijing

Visit the Forbidden City, the Tiananmen
Square and the Temple of Heaven. Enjoy
the Beijing Duck Dinner and the Peking
Opera in the evening.
Forbidden
City: Also called Palace Museum and is located at the center of Beijing. It was the imperial palace during the Ming (1368 - 1644) and Qing (1616-1911) dynasties.
Tiananmen
Square: The biggest downtown Square of the world, it is located in the heart of urban Beijing and large enough to accommodate an assembly of one million people.
Temple
of Heaven: The place where the ancient emperors used to pray for the God's bless of the whole nation.
Beijing
Duck Dinner: Beijing Roasted duck is renowned as the most delicious food of Beijing.
Peking
Opera: Beijing Opera is deemed the national opera of China. The accompanying music, singing and costumes are full of Chinese cultural facts.
